Political parties shouldn’t indulge in ‘blame game’, Tessori tells Zardari

Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has revealed that he has communicated to former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari that political parties should not indulge in the “blame game”.

Speaking to the media in Karachi on Monday during his visit to a school established by a welfare organisation, he highlighted the rising political temperature in the country and said: “All the political parties are mine and I am the governor of all. Parties should stop the blame game.”

Warning against hasty decision-making, in light of prevailing economic turmoil, the governor underscored that the upcoming general elections should be conducted in a way that is acceptable to all stakeholders.

During his visit to the school, Tessori also distributed laptops among students and participated in various activities. “I will talk to the Sindh government to provide a grant to this school.”

He added that he prays more such schools are established in Sindh.

Tessori’s comments came as political parties including PPP, and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are trading barbs ahead of the February 8 general elections to woo their voters.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has been targeting “aged” politicians, especially PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, and is also blaming the party for inflation during the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) 16-month stint while PML-N has also clapped back at PPP for accusing Nawaz Sharif-led party.

The PPP has also raised concerns about not being provided a level playing field and equal opportunities to contest in the upcoming elections. The party also sought Nawaz’s retirement from politics.

Bilawal also claimed that the PML-N intends to roll back the provincial autonomy granted under the 18th Amendment.

Neither the constitutional amendment nor the extension of the Chief Justice have the necessary number of votes. As a constitutional modification is the purview of Parliament, we ought to have done it if we had the necessary numbers.

It’s evident that CJP Qazi Faez Isa won’t take no for an answer. He said it would be acceptable to extend the age limit for everyone when he discussed this with the Attorney General and the Law Minister.

Rana Sanaullah stated that in terms of politics, they are working with Maulana Fazlur Rehman rather than supporting him.

Regarding his role in appointing the Army Chief and obtaining desired posts, Lt. Gen. (retired) Faiz Hameed has been accused. Furthermore, he is charged with utilizing PTI for these objectives. He could not have acted alone if these charges are true, according to Sanaullah; the PTI founder would have also been involved.

“WhatsApp conversations between the two on May 9th may surface after retirement, and individuals who helped them communicate may later speak out,” the statement reads.

“Former COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa never asked for an extension in our presence,” Rana Sanaullah stated in response to a query posed during the interview. It was never mentioned by Shehbaz Sharif that the former COAS had requested a delay.

In addition, he refuted reports that Ijaz Amjad, the father-in-law of Qamar Javed Bajwa, and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif met in London.
