Babar Azam, the ex-captain of Pakistan, and Mohammad Rizwan, a wicketkeeper batter, did not receive any offers from teams at the draft for The Hundred tournament in the 2024 season, which took place on Wednesday.

Azam and Rizwan were included as last-minute additions to The Hundred draft, alongside Pakistan’s T20I skipper, Shaheen Afridi. However, only Afridi was able to clinch a contract during the tournament.

After an intense day of drafting, all eight clubs participating in the upcoming fourth season of The Hundred, England’s unique competition, have finalized their squads.

In the previous month, around 65 Pakistani athletes enrolled for The Hundred 2024 Draft, but only three players were selected.

Birmingham Phoenix acquired the services of pace prodigy Naseem Shah for a record-breaking fee of £125,000.
Shaheen Afridi, who previously played for Welsh Fire in the last edition of The Hundred, has been chosen by the squad for £100,000.

Imad Wasim, the very skilled all-rounder who played a crucial part in Islamabad United’s triumph in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, has been selected once more by Trent Rockets for a sum of £100,000.

Manchester Originals chose to keep leg-spinner Usama Mir on their team, while Welsh Fire decided to retain right-arm speedster Haris Rauf.

Shadab Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Hasan Ali, and Mohammad Amir were not purchased by any franchise as they did not attract any interest.

The competition, consisting of eight teams, will commence at The Oval on July 23 with an intense match between Oval Invincibles and Birmingham Phoenix.

In the petition, the head of the Traders Union has asked the court to rule that the PTI protest violates fundamental human rights by preventing companies from operating and removing the public’s ability to visit stores for necessities.
