Chinese Premier promises Pakistani military assistance in combating terrorism

Ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Islamabad, Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang had a crucial meeting with Pakistan’s top military leadership.

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the service chiefs of Pakistan’s armed forces met with Prime Minister Li at a high level. A strategic alliance that has been essential to maintaining security in the region, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening and growing it.

Many important topics, such as defense cooperation and counterterrorism initiatives, were discussed during the conference. In recognizing the efforts and sacrifices made by the armed forces to uphold security and stability in the area, Prime Minister Li complimented Pakistan’s military for playing a crucial role in the war against terror.

With an emphasis on the necessity of working together to address new security issues, Prime Minister Li Qiang pledged China’s ongoing support and cooperation in Pakistan’s fight against terrorism.

China’s Prime Minister Li Qiang reiterated earlier on Monday that China is committed to Pakistan’s development and prosperity, saying the relationship between the two countries is “eternal”.

Talking at the New Gwadar International Airport’s virtual inauguration, Li emphasized that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has reached a major turning point with the completion of this vital infrastructure project.

As a “world-class airport” that exemplifies the depth of Pakistan-China friendship, he emphasized the significance of Gwadar airport for improving regional connectivity.

Thanking the labor forces of both countries, he stated, “the airport’s completion will facilitate increased international trade and accelerate development in Pakistan’s western regions, particularly Gwadar.”

Memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between China and Pakistan were formalized during a signing ceremony that took place after the inauguration. Improvements in water resources, information and communication technology (ICT) cooperation, and smart classrooms are among the topics covered by these accords.

SIFC Increases Direct Foreign Investment: Investment in the Energy Sector Rises by 120%

The Special Investment Facilitation Council is intended to help Pakistan’s energy sector attract $585.6 million in direct foreign investment in 2024–2025. The amount invested at the same time previous year was $266.3 million.
