Witaah many looking forward a festive break from March 29 to April 6, 2025, Eidul Fitr 2025 is set to deliver a much-needed week-long holiday in Pakistan.

Celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, Ramadan, a holy month of fasting, prayer, self-reflection, and charity, finishes in Eidul Fitr, one of the most important Islamic holidays. Following centuries-old Islamic practice, the sight of the Shawwal crescent moon helps one to ascertain the precise date of Eid.

Eidul Fitr in 2025 is expected by the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council to probably take place on March 31. Experts from the Ruet committee have said that, on the evening of March 30, the crescent moon is predicted to be visible across most of Pakistan; the moon is over 26 hours old by then, thereby fulfilling the required conditions for visibility.

Pakistanis are looking forward a longer holiday this year. Monday through Wednesday’s first three days of Eid should coincide with the previous weekend. Rumors abound that the administration would declare a five-day public holiday from March 29 through April 2.

Should further leave be approved on Thursday and Friday, the break might run nine days, from March 29 to April 6. Still, the official moon sighting notification will determine the last plan.
