Decoding media influence: worldwide perspectives on information perception and society was the topic of a conference that was held at the Islamabad Institute of Conflict Resolution. Experts from the fields of academia, the media, and public policy were brought together at the event to debate the role that the media plays in constructing socioeconomic and political landscapes in a world that is increasingly connected.
A Quaid-e-Azam University associate professor named Dr. Shabana Fayyaz served as the moderator for the session. There is a connection between the media, public perception, and the consequences of society, as Sabah Aslam, the executive director of IICR, pointed out.
It was stressed by Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed that the EU Disinfo Lab plays a role in exposing the lies that India is spreading. While Fakhar Kakakhel brought attention to the misuse of information by “keyboard warriors,” Murtaza Solangi, a journalist and former minister, discussed the fundamental nature of journalism. The dangers of political hate speech were brought to the attention of Dr. Furqan Rao.
Dr. Nazir Hussain highlighted the rise of social media as a challenge to the restricted practices of mainstream media, while Air Marshal (Ret.) Farhat Hussain, who was the keynote speaker, emphasized the importance of exploiting Indian vulnerabilities.
