The initial meeting between the IMF delegation and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, as well as the Finance Secretary and Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, is expected to precede the start of the negotiations, according to sources.

According to sources, Pakistan has already met the goals it set for the second review with the IMF and will not submit a new mini-budget as part of the current IMF program.

Islamabad and the foreign lender will discuss the final $1.1 billion installment of the SBA program.

Pakistan aims to finalize the largest and longest-running program from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the nation’s history, according to Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb’s statement yesterday.

According to Aurangzeb, our administration prioritizes improving Pakistan’s economy over working with the IMF. The minister stated that PM Shehbaz Sharif has a clear plan for improving the struggling economy and that the premier has issued stringent directives in this respect.

Following the creation of PM Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on March 8 that it is prepared to dispatch a delegation to Islamabad for the second economic assessment.

According to the IMF Director of Communications, the present priority is finishing the Stand-By Program, which will expire in April 2024. A mission for the program’s second review will be sent out as soon as Pakistan’s new government is formed.
