Campaign Against Electricity Theft: Steps the government is taking to boost the economy

The Federal Government and Military Leadership’s efforts to get the economy going again and ease the electricity problem are clearly paying off.

In a nationwide crackdown on energy theft, the government has recovered 101 billion rupees and arrested over 81,000 people who were using electricity illegally.

From June 16 to June 30, electrical thieves were caught and 48 million rupees was recovered in places like Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, and Islamabad. Additional 38 million rupees were retrieved from activities in Quetta, Peshawar, Hyderabad, and Sukkur.

Since June 9, 140 more people have been arrested for electrical theft.

It is still the intention of the relevant institutions to keep working across the country until energy theft is completely eliminated.

The announcement of a significant decrease in petroleum prices by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is expected to alleviate the financial strain on customers.

The cost of a litre of gasoline will drop by ten rupees.

Prices for diesel and kerosene oil are expected to decrease by 13.6 and 11 rupees per litre, respectively.

In addition, the cost of a gallon of light diesel will decrease by 13 rupees.

This move is a component of the government’s continuous initiatives to lower living expenses and assist households all throughout the nation.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, met with a delegation of the high level government in Islamabad.
