Since everyone has an obligation to follow the Supreme Court’s decisions, Raja was adamantly against the concept of establishing a court that would be above the Supreme Court.

Through this constitutional amendment, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is to be banned and the court is to be established to file a reference to modify the Constitution.

He added that the amendments aim to transfer the PTI’s leader to military courts and ban the party. “The government is destroying the fundamental principles of the Constitution by acting in this way,” Raja continued.

A constitutional system built on deceit, he said, cannot work well, and he opposed the move.

A court order to the government not to hold Imran Khan’s military trial in matters relating to May 9 was granted in a plea filed by the former prime minister and PTI founder. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) decided the case on Tuesday.

Following his notification that the government had not yet made a decision about Imran Khan’s military trial, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb issued the ruling.

An order would be followed if such a judgement was made, the Additional Attorney General of Pakistan (AAG), Munawar Iqbal Duggal, informed the court during the hearing.
