court delays Hassan Hussain Nawaz’s acquittal plea

On Tuesday, an Islamabad accountability court reserved its verdict on Hassan and Hussain Nawaz’s appeal for acquittal in the Avenfield, Al-Azizia, and Flagship matters.

The court heard the Avenfield, Al-Azizia, and Flagship references against PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif’s sons Hassan and Hussain.

The accountability court reserved its decision on Nawaz Sharif’s sons’ acquittal request for 2pm today.

Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, sons of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, were granted bail by an accountability court in Islamabad after perpetual arrest warrants were revoked.

The accountability court heard Hassan and Hussain Nawaz’s motions to cancel their Flagship, Al-Azizia, and Avenfield arrest warrants.

Hassan and Hussain Nawaz surrendered to accountability court judge Nasir Javed Rana.

The assistant attorney informed the court that Hassan and Hussain Nawaz’s lawyer Qazi Misbah was in another court and would attend by 12 noon during the initial hearing.

Judge Rana stated Hassan and Hussain received reprieve until Thursday. Both must surrender to the court, he said.

The court resumed hearings after break. Hassan and Hussain appeared in court with lawyer Qazi Misbah.

A request to suspend perpetual warrants was presented at the previous session, Qazi Misbah stated. Judge asked about their cases.

Misbah replied that three references had submitted applications.

Misbah stated that Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and retired Capt Safdar were acquitted in Avenfield and their father in Al-Azizia by the Islamabad High Court. Flagship case trial court acquitted Nawaz Sharif.

The accountability court then revoked Hussain and Hassan Nawaz’s arrest warrants and granted them bail on Rs50,000 surety bonds.

Both sons of the former prime minister requested an exemption from court on the next hearing. Court postponed hearing till Friday. The court also dropped both defendants’ proclaimed offender status.

On March 12, Hassan and Hussain Nawaz returned home after seven years.

Barrister Saif recognized Maulana Sherani as a respected religious and political person, a senior member of parliament, and an expert in constitutional law during the meeting. He said that Maulana Sherani’s services are greatly valued by PTI founder Imran Khan and the party, and they hope he will play an active role in promoting trust, cooperation, and national reconciliation.

Maulana Sherani was invited to visit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by Barrister Saif on behalf of KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani emphasized the importance of reconciliation in guiding the nation away from conflict and proposed that Muhammad Ali Durrani be instrumental in promoting this process.
