During the Kohat grand jirga, both parties signed a peace deal, indicating that the Kurram conflict has been resolved.
In order to resolve the problem in Kurram district, the jirga met and came to a mutually agreeable conclusion.
The signature was confirmed by Jirga member Malik Sawab Khan, and the 14-point agreement was endorsed by 45 representatives from each side.
He added that efforts to create peace and open roads were being considered. “Those who break the agreement will be turned over to the government, and we will work with law enforcement to maintain peace and order,” he continued.
According to the agreement, however, heavier weapons must be turned over to the government and damages must be compensated.
