According to Senator Irfan Siddiqui, the government’s negotiation committee spokeswoman, if negotiations with the opposition do not start by January 31, the group would be disbanded.
Siddiqui told reporters outside Parliament House that he was disappointed that the PTI had decided to terminate the negotiations after they had waited for them in the speaker’s room for forty-five minutes.
Since the group was established on December 5, he said, three negotiation sessions had been place.
Siddiqui stressed that although the government committee would continue to operate until January 31, no additional outreach will be conducted.
He lambasted the PTI for stifling discourse and undermining democratic norms.
