In Lahore, a three-day International Punjabi Conference begins.

At Gaddafi Stadium, the Punjab Institute of Language Arts and Culture (PILAC) hosted the Second International Punjabi Conference in cooperation with the Punjabi Prachar and Punjabi Lehr.

Many Punjabi professors, intellectuals, and cultural figures from all over the world, including those from the US, Canada, the UK, and India, can be found at the three-day event.

The conference featured a number of panel discussions, research presentations, book launches, play performances, mushaira, and music in addition to covering important topics pertaining to Punjabi literature, history, and politics.

Famous author Mustansar Hussain Tarar gave the keynote speech on the first day after the event. Punjabis’ political and national consciousness was a major topic of discussion, with prominent speakers like Shuk Bohra, Nain Sukh, Farrukh Sohail Goindi, and Sohail Waraich.

The second panel, which was hosted by Mudassar Iqbal and included participation from well-known figures in literature, politics, and film, explored Punjabi and the advancement of new technologies. In addition, the audience will be entertained by comedians Salim Albela and Goga Pasruri.

With speakers including Parveen Malik, Sukhi Bath, Jameel Pal, and Jaswant Singh Zafar, the third panel focused on mother tongue education. With Naseem Kausar serving as moderator and Dr. Shabnam Ishaq, Gurcharan Kaur, Shamsa Hussain, and Rubina Jameel serving as panellists, a fourth conversation will examine Punjabi bravery.

Parmesh Singh, a play performance, and a panel discussion on the relationship between Punjabi literature and the populace, which included Khalid Hussain, Zubair Ahmed, Sahej Preet Mangat, and Khalid Farid Dhalwal, were all featured during the conference. On the occasion, the outcomes of contests for Punjabi writing, reels, and short films will also be revealed.

The intellectual and cultural event is expected to raise awareness of Punjabi heritage and encourage conversations about its future.

Singing and drama performances

Before the audience at PILAC, a stunning theatrical performance based on the 1947 partition riots was shown. The crowded crowd gave the actors a hearty round of applause.

The poetry of Ashok Pora, a well-known author in Punjabi literature who is credited with advancing contemporary Punjabi poetry, brought Punjabis together across the border.

During the convention, prominent Punjabi content creators and TikTokers attended.
