In the next three to four years, the Pakistani government wants to eradicate hepatitis, according to Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal.

“This is possible,” he remarked at a meeting in Islamabad on Monday, citing Egypt’s three-year hepatitis eradication as evidence.

Additionally, the Prime Minister’s diabetic program would be introduced, Ahsan Iqbal said.

In addition to therapy, he underlined, the emphasis will be on preventative healthcare through increased public knowledge. He claimed that this strategy will lessen the prevalence of illnesses.

On July 28, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif announced a national campaign to eradicate hepatitis and urged coordinated efforts to increase awareness and work towards a future free of the illness.

It gives me great pleasure to declare a national campaign to eradicate Hepatitis C. In keeping with the worldwide approach, we will concentrate on decentralizing testing and treatment facilities as part of this admirable undertaking, making sure that the services offered are suited to the need of our people,” the prime minister stated in a statement.

Hepatitis C screening and treatment facilities would be free for all citizens, PM Shehbaz said.
