July Balochistan monsoon alert: Forecasts of heavier-than-normal rains

Balochistan’s official monsoon season is scheduled to begin in July, although earlier than typical rainfall is predicted, which could cause damage in a number of regions.

This year’s monsoon rains are expected to be strong over Balochistan, according to a warning issued by the Met Department. Lasbela district, Naseerabad, and Makran division are areas that are especially vulnerable because of the potential for severe damage from increased rainfall.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has made forward-thinking preparations in anticipation of the monsoon’s effects. Supply kits for 800 households have been distributed and given to local governments to enable prompt action in the event of an emergency.

The Metropolitan Corporation of Quetta is among the authorities that have been told to be on guard and ready to respond to any possible flood-related scenarios.

To reduce flood hazards and avoid waterlogging, it is imperative that encroachments in drains be cleared out immediately and that they be properly cleaned.

During the monsoon season, local communities are asking residents to stay updated on weather conditions and take the appropriate safety measures to protect themselves and their property. In addition to following the safety instructions provided by local authorities, residents in high-risk locations are recommended to assemble emergency kits.
