Proceedings are scheduled to resume tomorrow as the seven-member Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court continues to hear Intra-Court Appeals against the trial of civilians in Military Courts.
After reviewing and returning the trial documents from May 9, the Ministry of Defence asked the court for further records from previous cases.
While Defence Counsel Khawaja Haris claimed security reasons, Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi asked why the trial details could not be made public.
The bench expressed concerns about the investigation process, media availability, and fair trial processes prior to filing charges.
Haris said that military court proceedings were impartial and free, guaranteeing the accused’s legal counsel. Bar representatives were instructed to show up tomorrow prepared after the meeting was adjourned.
