In Islamabad, a two-day seminar organized by the national disaster management authority with the theme “transforming communities through women and girls’ leadership for climate resilience and gender equality” got underway.
Highlighting the vital role that women and girls play in bringing about revolutionary change in communities—especially in the context of disaster management and climate resilience—is the aim of the seminar.
In his remarks at the seminar, the chairman of the NDMA emphasized that vulnerable communities—especially women and girls—are disproportionately affected by disasters. But it is unavoidable to use their capacity to increase resilience in formal frameworks for anticipatory action and disaster risk reduction.
