Pakistan has denounced Israel’s efforts to shut down the UN Relief Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) at the UN, calling them a component of Israel’s genocidal assault against the Palestinian people.

During the UN General Assembly meeting, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, the Acting Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN, described the Israeli Parliament’s adoption of the law as a blatant breach of the UN Charter, international law, the interim measures established by the International Court of Justice, and the July 19 advisory opinion of the ICJ.

He urged the world community, especially the UN Security Council, to maintain UNRWA’s uninterrupted functioning and hold Israel responsible for its actions.

Pakistan’s acting permanent representative called for an immediate end to UNRWA’s demonization and delegitimization.

He noted that by attacking the UN Relief Agency for Palestinian Refugees, Israel not only blocks essential humanitarian relief but also jeopardizes the group’s efforts to defend the identity, rights, and hopes for justice and peace of the Palestinian people.

Additionally, in order to maintain peace, respect human rights, and implement international law in the occupied Palestinian lands, Ambassador Usman Jadoon suggested giving priority to a few crucial measures.
