Pakistan’s exports to Europe reached $3.8 billion in the first five months of the fiscal year 2024-25.

“ISLAMABAD:”” An increase of 8.62 percent in the first five months of the current fiscal year 2024-25 was reflected in Pakistan’s exports to Europe, which reached a total of 3.8 billion dollars.

Included in the expansion are important industries such as textiles, leather, clothing, sports products, and medical instruments. This expansion is being led by the efforts of the Special Investment Facilitation Council.

The agreement to extend Pakistan’s GSP Plus status until 2027 was ratified by the European Parliament in October of 2023.

When it comes to certain goods, developing nations are granted preferential market access and exemptions from levies through the GSP Plus program.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, stated earlier that Pakistan’s Information and Computer Technology (ICT) services export remittances witnessed a 28 percent increase after the previous statement.

Shaza Fatima stated, in response to a question that was posed during the Question Hour in the National Assembly, that the information and communications technology (ICT) exports reached around $1.86 billion during the first six months of the current government fiscal year.

The ‘enhanced’ internet usage and speed in the country, according to her, was the cause of the explosion. The minister also acknowledges that people who use the internet are experiencing difficulties, and he emphasizes that efforts are now being made to alleviate these problems.

According to her, “At this time, WhatsApp is fully functional, and all virtual private networks are operational.”

According to the minister, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) maintains a service center that is open around the clock to receive complaints and ensures that technicians are sent at the earliest opportunity to repair any problems that may arise. She continued by saying, “My primary responsibility is to safeguard and advance the information technology industry.”
