PIA fined for flight hostess entering Canada without passport

The flight attendant journeyed from Islamabad to Toronto, depending exclusively on PIA General Declaration documents, bypassing the usual passport obligation.

After the breach, the national carrier received a substantial penalty for permitting flight attendants to enter Canada without appropriate documentation.

The PIA spokesperson has verified, in a formal statement, that the carrier has been imposed a punishment of $250 for the occurrence, emphasizing the gravity of the infraction. Nevertheless, it refuted the reports.
Jibran Baloch, a flight steward, was scheduled to return to PIA aircraft PK-782 in Toronto on February 29. However, he failed to report for duty on the journey back to Pakistan.

A few days earlier, a female flight attendant called Maryam Raza also disappeared from the hotel. During the search of her hotel room, the authorities found her uniform and a message that said, “Thank you, PIA.” This message indicated that the air hostess had the intention of seeking political asylum once arriving in Canada.

It is important to note that over the past two years, more than 10 air hostesses from PIA have disappeared in Canada. This has raised worries about the well-being and safety of airline staff who work on international flights.

On March 1, a PIA cabin staff member was reported missing in Canada, as confirmed by the spokesperson of the national airline.
