Resolutions on Palestine and Kashmir: Pakistan Laments UNSC Setbacks

The UN Security Council’s inability to see to it that its own resolutions pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine are carried out has been acknowledged with sadness by Pakistan.

Acting Permanent Representative of Pakistan, Usman Jadoon, stated during a UNSC debate in New York that the UN Secretary-General ought to compile an annual assessment of instances on the Security Council’s agenda where Council Resolutions and the Charter’s tenets are broken.

In response to complicated and interconnected problems like the unsolved situations in Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir, he stated that Pakistan fully believes in multilateral cooperation.

A just, democratic, and sustainable world, according to the Pakistani envoy, must be built on a constant observance of the core UN Charter values of respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as the right of peoples to self-determination.

According to him, the backdrop of current and ongoing conflicts makes rigorous commitment to these values all the more important.
