Shibli Faraz, the leader of the Senate opposition, left the judicial commission.

Prior to this, Omar Ayub, a member of the National Assembly and another leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), had resigned from the Judicial Commission.

Shibli Faraz will be replaced by Senator Ali Zafar as the representative and judicial commission member.

Shibli Faraz reportedly submitted a formal letter to the Senate Chairman resigning from office.

According to the letter, Senator Shibli Faraz is leaving because of the 32 FIRs that have been filed against him and the court proceedings that have made it difficult for him to perform his duties on the panel.

Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz, the opposition leaders in the National Assembly and the Senate, resigned from the Judicial Commission two days ago, according to sources, and PTI chairman Imran Khan ordered that Barrister Gohar and Senator Ali Zafar be nominated in their stead.

The PTI formally joined the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) in October 2024. Members of the judicial commission from both houses of Parliament were nominated by the party.
