The 9th of December signifies International Anti-Corruption Day, serving as a reminder of the worldwide initiatives to address one of the most significant concerns confronting our countries—corruption. This year’s theme, “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity,” aptly emphasizes the significant role that youth may assume in combating corruption. The younger generation merits a future in which they can prosper without corruption.

Today, Pakistan reaffirms its dedication to transparency, integrity, and accountability for the present and future generations within the international community.
Corruption is a detrimental force that erodes economic progress and dismantles the social structure of communities. It deprives nations of their potential and hinders individuals from reaping the advantages of equitable government and equal opportunity. It distorts public services, diverts resources intended for development, and maintains inequalities affecting the lives of regular residents. Corruption is a significant factor contributing to the distrust between governments and their citizenry.

Our government is steadfast and determined in its effort to eradicate corruption at all levels. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and other law enforcement authorities are diligently striving to ensure that individuals who abuse power and embezzle public funds are held accountable for their acts. We acknowledge the diligent efforts of our institutions and support them in their crucial endeavor to eradicate corruption from society.

Nevertheless, the government alone cannot prevail in the battle against corruption. It necessitates the collaborative endeavor of all citizens, communities, and institutions.

The media plays a crucial role in uncovering malpractices. This day necessitates the active engagement of everyone who upholds justice and integrity. Every individual must assume responsibility for fostering a transparent and accountable society.

On this International Anti-Corruption Day, I implore all Pakistanis to contribute to our pursuit of a corruption-free future. Let us join in our determination to establish a Pakistan where public resources are employed effectively for the benefit of our citizens. Let us collaborate towards a future in which the rule of law prevails and accountability serves as the foundation for all.
