The minimal sum for Sadaqa-e-Fitr (Fitrana) and Fidya this year is Rs240 per person, according to religious expert and former Ruet-e-Hilal Committee chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman.
Mufti Muneeb asked wealthy people to pay Fitrana, Fidya, and Kaffara in accordance with their financial means in a statement.
The Fidya for fasting, he clarified, is Rs240 for wheat, Rs700 for barley, Rs4,000 for premium dates, and Rs6,400 for premium raisins.
He added that 60 poor people must be fed two meals each as part of the Kaffara, which is a reward for breaking a fast.
