The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a severe weather signal for Pakistan, warning of heavy rainfall.

The alert encompasses Azad Kashmir, Malakand, Hazara, and Gujranwala divisions, with further precipitation anticipated in Potohar, Mardan, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Multan, Rajanpur, Mirpur Khas, Sukkur, Karachi, Hyderabad, Umarkot, Badin, Thatta, Tharparkar, DI Khan, Koh-e-Sulaiman range, Zhob, Ziarat, Kalat, and Sibbi divisions.

A spokesman has announced that the authority has sent a notice to the provincial disaster management authorities and other relevant organisations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to promptly take action to save lives and property in light of the upcoming severe weather conditions. The Prime Minister’s directives entail the synchronisation of efforts with the provincial administrations, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan in order to efficiently handle the issue.

Prime Minister Sharif has stressed the importance of taking proactive steps, such as effectively managing drainage systems in Islamabad, providing necessary amenities for the inhabitants, and maintaining constant oversight by competent authorities. He has been instructed to undertake ongoing surveillance and coordination among institutions to ensure collaborative efforts.

Important instructions also encompass the prompt removal of inhabitants from locations at lower elevations, provision of healthcare personnel, medications and timely medical care, immunisations, and guaranteeing the accessibility of water pumps and gear.

The NDMA has been assigned the responsibility of ensuring a thorough and all-encompassing response to the anticipated rainfall. This includes providing assistance to emergency services and facilitating synchronised efforts to minimise the potential risks posed by the extreme weather conditions.

Individuals are recommended to remain updated regarding the meteorological circumstances and adhere to the instructions given by local authorities in order to guarantee their well-being amidst the impending torrential downpours.

The prime minister said that decreasing the inflation rate also lowered the policy rate and that future inflation rate reductions will be even more pronounced.

GHQ Attack Case: Prosecution Seeks Bail Cancellation of CM KP & Other Accused, Indicts 9 More

25 defendants, including PTI officials, have non-bailable arrest warrants issued by the Anti Terrorism Court of Rawalpindi for their failure to show up for court proceedings related to the GHQ attack case.

Judge Amjad Ali Shah added nine more suspects to the GHQ attack indictment list during today’s ATC Court sessions, bringing the total to 98.

Among the 61 defendants who appeared in court were Shah Mehmud Qureshi and the founder of the PTI.

Among those charged are Khadim Hussain Khokhar, Mehr Mohammad Javed, Chaudhary Asif, Zakir Ullah, Azeem Ullah, Shireen Mazatri, Major Retired Tahir Sadiq, and former MPA Rashid Hafeez.

A plea to cancel the bail of 23 suspects, including Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has also been filed by the prosecution side.

In the GHQ attack, there were 119 accused in total.
