According to information provided, Naeem Panjutha, the PTI founder’s attorney, came in court and submitted a request for Imran Khan’s acquittal.

Judicial Magistrate Sohaib Bilal asked whether the charges against Khan had been collected in the cases and how many cases there were against the PTI founder.

The court was informed by Naeem Panjutha that Imran Khan’s Tosha Khanna sentence is on hold and that the sentencing in the cases of cypher and illegal marriage are also pending.

The district and session courts heard the plea at this point and sent out notifications for the plea’s May 15 arguments.

In the May 9 violence case, bail was previously granted to Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi. Judge Malik Ejaz of the Anti-Terrorism Court heard the bail requests of PTI founder Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood.

The former prime minister Imran Khan was given bail in 12 instances, while Shah Mehmood was granted bail in 13 cases, despite the prosecution’s persistent pleas to the court.

Violence on May 9

Following the arrest of the former prime minister Imran Khan on May 9, 2023, violent conflicts broke out throughout Pakistan.

Due to the party workers’ agitation over their chairman’s arrest, protests were staged in both major and distant cities. Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad summoned the armed forces to maintain peace and order.

Workers from PTI had attacked Army posts, including the Corps Commander’s residence in Lahore, during the rallies.

It is important to note that the PTI founder is included as the primary culprit in every case involving the May 9 riots.
