The Punjab government has requested additional time to submit reasons in its appeal for the revocation of bail granted to the accused in the May 9 assault on military installations in Rawalpindi.

A three-member panel, led by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, adjudicated the petitions submitted by the Punjab administration.

During the hearing, the additional prosecutor general asked time to submit JIT reports, indicating that arguments will be based on their findings.

The CJP observed that several appeals pertained to case transfers, which have now rendered invalid.

The court was notified that the judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi had been reassigned and that a fine of Rs200,000 had been levied on 11 transferred cases.

The Supreme Court allotted time for the Punjab government to submit its report and scheduled additional hearings on the issue.
