The “Voice Mode” from OpenAI will now launch in July.

Reuters reports that OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, stated on Tuesday that technical difficulties had caused it to postpone the rollout of its “Voice Mode” feature until July.

When it announced that it was delaying the launch because it required more time to satisfy its launch requirements, the business revealed that it had originally intended to roll out the realistic voice chat experience to a limited number of ChatGPT Plus users in late June.

To better identify and reject specific content, for instance, we’re enhancing the model’s detection capabilities. As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance user experience, we’re also getting our infrastructure ready to handle millions of users and still provide real-time responses “OpenAI wrote on social media site X.

As per the company, the tool will be made available to all Chatgpt Plus users in the fall, after safety and reliability tests, after initially being made available to a restricted group of consumers to collect feedback.

Further video and screen-sharing features are also being developed by OpenAI.

In an attempt to keep up its lead in the competition to control developing AI technologies, it announced the introduction of GPT-4o in May. GPT-4o is a new AI model that can interact textually and visually and speak in a realistic manner.

Talking to ChatGPT and getting immediate responses in real time, as well as the ability to stop ChatGPT mid-sentence—two aspects of naturalistic interactions that AI voice assistants have struggled with—will now be possible with the addition of audio capabilities.
