Green financing has been recommended by Governor State Bank Jamil Ahmed to address the consequences of climate change.
Pakistan is still among the top ten nations most affected by climate change, the governor of the state bank said during a Karachi seminar on green financing in the face of the phenomenon.
“Unexpected and unprecedented weather patterns are causing severe damage to Pakistan’s economy and agriculture sector,” he warned.
According to Jamil Ahmed, the state bank has refinanced 94 billion rupee projects for alternative energy sources for both industrial and residential consumers.
He added that Pakistan and the World Bank are collaborating on a green tax economy.
