There is an anti-polio effort going on in 49 districts of Pakistan.

Over 9.5 million kids younger than five will get anti-polio vaccine drops during the special program.

16 districts in Balochistan, 11 districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 16 districts in Sindh, and 6 districts in Punjab are fighting in the operation.

Reports say that Balochistan wants to vaccinate 9 lakh children, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 13 lakh, Sindh 27 lakh, Punjab 44 lakh, and Islamabad 1.33 lakh.

Some Union Councils of Islamabad are running door-to-door polio campaigns.

Because of more polio cases in Balochistan, this program was started.

According to the National Command and Operation Center, this program is taking place in places where poliovirus is always present.

Within the country, eight cases of polio have been reported so far this year.

Pakistan’s sewage samples from seven areas were found to contain poliovirus on Saturday.

Authorities say that the Type-1 Wild Poliovirus was discovered in sewer lines. In 2024, 203 positive sewage samples were found.

The poliovirus has been found in the sewage of five areas in Pakistan: Islamabad, Quetta, Nasirabad, Karachi, Peshawar, and Gujranwala.

SIFC Increases Direct Foreign Investment: Investment in the Energy Sector Rises by 120%

The Special Investment Facilitation Council is intended to help Pakistan’s energy sector attract $585.6 million in direct foreign investment in 2024–2025. The amount invested at the same time previous year was $266.3 million.

This is a notable 120% rise, mostly due to investments in gas exploration, oil, and power. Such expansion indicates heightened investor confidence and emphasizes the development potential in important areas.

The State Bank reports that foreign investment in other vital industries has increased by 48% to $771 million.

This advancement is a blatant testament to SIFC’s efficient investment procedure and quick project execution.

The purpose of the Special Investment Facilitation Council is to establish Pakistan as an investment hub by aggressively promoting regional trade and investment in the energy sector and other critical industries.
