USAID Donations: Relief Given To Sindh, Balochistan Flood Victims

The United States Government, via USAID, has provided more than 5,000 kits for female health workers, 90 packages for maternal, newborn, and child health, and 120 birthing stations to enhance healthcare facilities in eleven districts in Sindh and Balochistan devastated by flooding.

More than 80,000 children and 100,000 married women of reproductive age will be able to get better healthcare services because to these supplies, which are a part of USAID’s $27.8 million support in the health sector’s flood response.

During the transfer ceremony, Kate Somvongsiri, the Director of USAID Mission, stressed the assistance’s long-term effects.

The $2.3 million equipment donation, according to her, represents a major investment in bolstering the health resilience of Sindh and Balochistan areas devastated by floods.

Over 13 million people were impacted by the catastrophic floods that struck Sindh and Balochistan in June 2022, seriously impairing health services and putting them at risk of vector- and water-borne illnesses.

This collaboration demonstrates how committed the US is to improving Pakistan’s resilience and health outcomes.
