The recent severe rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have caused significant damage, resulting in 32 deaths and 41 injuries.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released a comprehensive report that provides detailed information on the significant loss of life and property caused by the continuous rainfall in KP.
The PDMA study states that the rain-related occurrences resulted in the deaths of 15 children, 12 adults, and 5 women. The injured individuals include 28 males, 7 minors, and 6 females.
The report reveals extensive destruction to residential infrastructure, with a grand total of 1370 dwellings impacted throughout the province. Out of them, 160 dwellings are completely destroyed, while 1210 have had minor damage.
Several districts, like as Upper and Lower Dir, Chitral, Swat, Bajur, Shangla, Mansehra, Mehmand, Malakand, Karak, Tank, Mardan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Noshera, Buner, Hango, Batagram, Banu, North and South Waziristan, Kohat, and Dera Ismail Khan, had significant damage and disruption due to heavy rainfall.
In response to the situation, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has instructed the distribution of Rs. 50 million to provide assistance to the families of the deceased in 12 areas that have been severely hit by the rain.
The primary objective of this relief effort is to offer essential assistance to individuals who are dealing with the devastating aftermath of the natural calamity.
