Another monsoon system hits Pakistan, rains expected in Punjab

Authorities scale up preparedness for impending period as a new monsoon weather system enters Pakistan with mild to heavy rainfall forecast in Lahore and most districts of Punjab

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted a day of alternating sunshine and clouds in Lahore with a chance of light rain after midday. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 31 degrees Celsius and the maximum is projected to touch 39 degrees Celsius.

In view of the anticipated rain, the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has alerted all district administrations to complete precautionary measures in low-lying and susceptible areas.

Meanwhile, WASA Lahore Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed has asked all operational staff to remain on high alert as there is a probability of rain in the city.

“The officers and field teams will continue to carry out their duties till the water is completely drained out from the roads and low-lying areas,” he said.

They have also requested locals to refrain from needless travel during rain and to keep themselves updated with latest weather conditions.
