The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) may drop by up to Rs8.50 a litre, according to sources, while the price of petrol may drop by more than Rs9.

Comparably, a gallon of kerosene oil should cost just Rs12.

Following conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will make the ultimate decision on the new rates.

The rates of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) were already reduced by the federal government by Rs6.17 and Rs10.86, respectively, for the upcoming two weeks.

Right now, the price of gasoline is Rs. 269.43 per litre, while the price of HSD is Rs. 272.77.

A litre of kerosene oil now costs Rs177.39, down from Rs 173.48 previously.

Here, it is important to note that, although petrol and HSD are free from general sales tax (GST), the government levies a Rs70 per litre petroleum fee.

A maximum gasoline charge limit of Rs 80 per litre has been suggested by the Finance Bill 2024 in an effort to raise Rs 1.28 trillion in revenue for the upcoming fiscal year.
