Bilawal calls drone attacks from Afghanistan grave violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty

Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has condemned in the strongest possible terms the drone assaults from Afghanistan into Pakistan, the operations are a serious violation of the country’s national sovereignty.

In a statement, Bilawal praised Pakistan’s military forces for foiling the attacks, saying security authorities had effectively shot down all 8 drones before reaching their target.

Bilawal said Pakistan then retaliated by striking 10 sites in Afghanistan he alleged were used to launch and store the drones.

“There is more to Kabul’s responsibility than just dissociating itself from the incidents,” the PPP chairman said. He urged Afghan officials to explain how assaults against Pakistan could be carried out from Afghan territory.

He added the Afghan government must take action to prevent attacks from Afghan territory and hold those involved accountable.

“The cessation of armed operations against Pakistan from Afghan soil is a prerequisite to sustainable peace in the region,” Bilawal stressed.

His statements came amid persistent security concerns along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and renewed appeals on the Afghan government to stop militant activity directed against Pakistan from their territory.
