A substantial advancement in tackling Pakistan’s energy issue has been achieved by the Oil And Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) with the finding of gas reserves near Rahim Yar Khan.
The reserves were announced on June 29, with the endorsement of the Strategic Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), signifying a noteworthy achievement in Pakistan’s pursuit of energy security.
The recent identification of reserves holds significant importance for the energy industry of the country, as it will have a crucial role in mitigating the energy deficit.
The recently discovered reserves are located almost 2000 metres below the surface in the Rahim Yar Khan District of Punjab.
Concurrently, Mari Petroleum Company Limited, a prominent participant in the industry, has achieved a 70% success rate in exploration. It has recently made its second consecutive finding in the East Block, and the discovery of gas in Chagai District is also a significant milestone for the company.
These findings are anticipated to enhance not just the energy infrastructure of the country but also foster investment confidence.
