China’s spokesman Mao Ning remarked during her routine briefing, “We noted that general elections in Pakistan were held in a generally steady and smooth manner, and we offer our congratulations.”
“China, being a friendly and close neighbor, fully respects the choices made by the people of Pakistan and sincerely hopes that relevant parties in Pakistan will collaborate to maintain social stability and political solidarity following the elections,” the speaker continued.
China and Pakistan, according to the spokesperson, are all-weather strategic cooperative partners. China hopes to work with Pakistan to strengthen their long-standing friendship, expand their practical cooperation in a number of areas, and hasten the establishment of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era, all to the benefit of their respective peoples.
She stated that the Chinese side had seen that the Pakistani election had been largely stable and peaceful and that China respected the decision made by the Pakistani people in answer to a query concerning the delay in establishing a government.
Regarding the circumstance you brought up, we think the pertinent Pakistani parties may maintain their unity and cooperate to resolve pertinent problems, she continued.
It should be noted that on February 8, Pakistan held general elections for both the national and provincial parliament. The political parties are currently attempting to establish a government following the announcement of the results.
To win 169 seats in the 336-member lower house of parliament, political players were forming coalitions.
Throughout the process of announcing the results, independent candidates supported by the PTI maintained their advantage over conventional political parties in the general elections of 2024, particularly in the National and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assemblies.
PTI-backed independent candidates have secured 92 seats, based on the results that have been released thus far. With 79 seats, the PML-N is in second place, while the PPP has secured 54 seats.
IPP and BNP each won two seats, while MQM-P got seventeen, JUI-F four, and PML-Q three.
