Cloudburst unleashes massive floods in Chilas
Thor area of Chilas had severe flash floods due to cloudburst destroying houses, crops, livestock and infrastructure.
A local mosque in Thor Mek was also struck by floodwaters and the Thor region was heavily damaged by a flash flood which came rushing down a dry mountain.
A residential house, valuables, livestock and a vehicle were swept away by floodwaters. The water also carried away a gold placer that produced over 200 grams of gold and cash.
Debris from the flooding flooded homes, severed road linkages to Thor and disrupted connectivity to the impacted area.
Flash floods also reached agricultural fields at various areas including Thor Shaitan and Thor Mek, inflicting major damage to standing crops and farmlands.
Local inhabitants in the impacted areas are conducting relief efforts on a self-help basis, reports say. But the broken sections in the road are causing considerable problems for both homeowners and rescue crews.
