Punjab Home Department has formed committees in 43 jails to offer free legal advice to the province’s meritorious inmates, as instructed by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The Punjab Bar Council and the District Bar Associations worked together to construct these committees.
These panels comprise a total of 447 attorneys.
After submitting an application, eligible inmates will be sent to the assigned attorneys by the superintendent of the jail in question.
While praising the idea, Maryam Nawaz stated that no impoverished prisoner will be denied access to legal counsel.
