DPM Dar calls for dialogue, caution on Iranian FM visit

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar voiced his serious worry over the current regional tensions and stressed the need for dialogue, patience, de-escalation by all sides and continuous diplomatic efforts to ensure enduring peace and stability.

He was speaking with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the SCO CFM Meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic on Friday.

Ishaq Dar stressed the need to build on the understandings gained under the Islamabad MoU of June 2026.

“The two ministers reviewed the evolving regional situation and reaffirmed the close and longstanding ties between Pakistan and Iran.

Iranian Foreign Minister commended Pakistan’s continuous diplomatic assistance and constructive efforts for fostering regional peace and stability.

He also praised Pakistan for aiding the safe return of Iranian fishermen and crew including those from vessels interdicted by the United States.

He also commended Islamabad for its strong coordination with the Iranian, United States and other appropriate agencies to secure their safe transit via Pakistan and their return to Iran.

Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination and regular consultations on areas of mutual concern, and reiterated their commitment to work together for regional peace, stability and shared prosperity.
