DPM Dar, Saudi FM discuss regional developments

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Saturday.

The two leaders shared views on ongoing developments in the area and reiterated close and fraternal relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

They stressed the need of continuing diplomacy and expressed their commitment to fostering constructive engagement, peace and stability in the area.

Ishaq Dar has already voiced serious worry at the current tensions in the region and underscored the need for dialogue, patience, de-escalation by all sides and continued diplomatic efforts to establish permanent peace and stability.

He was speaking with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, on the sidelines of the SCO CFM Meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic.

Ishaq Dar said the understandings made under the Islamabad MoU of June 2026 need to be built upon.

The two ministers underlined the close and long-standing ties between Pakistan and Iran and discussed the changing regional environment.

The Iranian foreign minister expressed his gratitude to Pakistan for its consistent diplomatic backing and positive initiatives aimed at enhancing regional peace and security.

He also commended Pakistan for its assistance in securing the safe return of Iranian fishermen and crew members, including those on the vessels interdicted by the United States.
