Eight structures sealed in Islamabad for fire safety violations
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has sealed eight buildings for violating the fire safety requirements.
CDA acting tough against fire safety code violators in structures. The government has broadened the scope of fire safety inspections in Islamabad, during which eight buildings violating the laws were sealed.
Shaheed-e-Millat Secretariat, State Life Building, TDAP Building, Beverly Center, NIC Building, Crown Plaza, Khudadad Heights Plaza and Envoy Continental Hotel were sealed for not complying with fire safety requirements.
CDA authorities said that they have penalised Capital Hospital, Polyclinic and PIMS Rs5.5 million for violating fire safety guidelines.
In addition, during the inspection, the firefighting apparatus, emergency exits and evacuation procedures in the structures are being looked at.
The CDA has urged the building owners and management to complete all the fire safety precautions promptly and warned of stern legal action in case of non-compliance.
