As a result of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) members’ permission to resettle in the formerly tribal region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been experiencing an increase in violence. On Monday, ten terrorists were killed in an attack after they attempted to force their way into Bannu Cantonment, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to a statement released on Tuesday, the terror attack claimed the lives of eight army soldiers as martyrs. It also stated how security forces’ quick response prevented widespread casualties and destruction.
As a demonstration of the military’s commitment to combating terrorism, the ISPR hailed the security forces’ response as heroic.
On the other hand, the ISPR also stated that the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, which is presently based in Afghanistan and receives full support from Kabul, was behind the most recent attack and had previously behaved similarly.
Once more, it demonstrates the Taliban-led Afghan interim government’s inability to take decisive action against the terror groups operating inside the country, which have grown to pose a major threat to the peace and security of the surrounding area.
According to the ISPR, Pakistan has consistently requested that the Afghan interim government take the required measures to combat terrorist organisations because of this.
The ISPR pledged to take all necessary measures to counter the security risks arising from Afghanistan, protect the public, and preserve national security.
Islamabad was compelled to begin Operation Azm-e-Istehkam due to the Afghan Taliban’s unwillingness to pursue the TTP. Nevertheless, the PTI, which has been in control of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 2013 and which, under Imran Khan, opened the door for the return of terrorists, is making efforts to combat them.
The ISPR released information regarding the attack on Monday, stating that the terrorists attempted to infiltrate Bannu Cantt but were thwarted by the security forces. Afterward, they struck a vehicle carrying explosives with the outside wall.
Eight servicemen lost their lives in the ensuing explosion, which also destroyed nearby infrastructure in addition to damaging the wall.
But during the counterattack and the hours-long clearance operation that was conducted in the region, the security forces were able to eliminate all ten of the terrorists.
Along with four sepoys, Ashfaq Hussain, Subhan Majeed, Imtiaz Khan, and Arsalan Aslam, Naib Subedar Muhammad Shehzad, Hawaldar Zill-e-Hussain, Hawaldar Shehzad Ahmed, and Lance Naik Sabz Ali were also there.
