ISLAMABAD: According to ARY News, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) declared on Thursday that its intra-party elections will take place on February 5.

Federal Election Commissioner Raoof Hassan announced the timeline for the intra-party elections on PTI’s official X account.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lost its electoral symbol, the “bat,” on December 22 as a result of the electoral watchdog’s ruling on a petition filed by founding member Akbar S. Babar contesting the legitimacy of the intra-party elections.

After the ruling, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) filed a petition with the Peshawar High Court, where it was granted temporary respite until the electoral body’s judgement was overturned. However, this reprieve was short-lived, as the ECP submitted a review of the ruling, which was granted by the PHC’s two-member bench.

Later, PTI appealed the Peshawar High Court’s ruling to the Supreme Court, which likewise supported the high court’s ruling.
