Following her father’s tragic death in Karachi on Thursday, Fatima Sana, who is currently captain of Pakistan in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, is scheduled to travel home.
Fatima is scheduled to go for Karachi on the earliest aircraft of the day in order to attend her father’s burial. The Pakistan women’s cricket team’s players and management sent Fatima their sincere condolences and well wishes.
Fatima Sana’s father passed away, and Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), also conveyed his sadness and loss.
“May Allah grant you and the bereaved family patience,” he said in expressing his condolences to Fatima.
Notably, this is Fatima’s maiden tournament as captain. With four wickets in two games and 43 runs at a strike-rate of 153.57, she has been leading Pakistan from the front.
After two games, Pakistan has one win, one loss, and is presently ranked third in Group B.
Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka in their opening match of the tournament thanks in large part to Fatima Sana, who also won Player of the Match.
