Governor Kundi briefs President on KP security situation
President Asif Ali Zardari met Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Kareem Kundi at the President’s Office and was updated on the general security situation and the deteriorating law and order situation in the province.
Sources said that interior minister Mohsin Naqvi was present in the meeting. The prevailing security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was reviewed and consultations were made on constitutional and legal aspects of the situation in the province.
“There is no room left to avoid imposition of emergency in the province,” Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi told reporters informally after the meeting and added that every conceivable effort was made to avert the move.
Naqvi also referred to his efforts to resolve the issue and said Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Barrister Gohar might be asked about what he did to avert the situation.
The conference comes amid worries over peace and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Constitutional and legal solutions are also being discussed.
