Sources said that the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are to continue negotiations today (Saturday). The next round of talks is slated to begin at 2.30pm and major decisions are likely to be made.

Sources indicated that the government had made it clear that concessions would not be forthcoming because of protests and disturbances and added that any demand for concessions would require seriousness from the opposition.

The sources suggested the administration might invoke Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution if the opposition continued with its stand.

The first session of discussions between the government and opposition was not without tense moments, with reports of angry exchanges between the two parties.

Sources said the government negotiating team has made it plain that it will not tolerate any march toward Islamabad at any cost.

During the talks, the administration formally requested the opposition to call-off or delay its intended long march. The government delegation also informed the opposition that it would take care of the implementation of the relevant court order.
