Pakistan will get a last $1.1 billion loan tranche under SBA. The interim Pakistani administration has already achieved the goals set by the IMF.

According to the sources, the foreign lender has chosen to solely negotiate with the elected administration and is not “interested” in speaking with the caretaker government about the last loan tranche under the SBA.

They said that the last week of February or the first week of March may be the time for the IMF and the recently elected administration of Pakitan to have negotiations.

Previously, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)’s debt rescheduling plan was “approved” by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for privatisation.

Details indicate that the discussions between representatives of the IMF, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Privatisation were fruitful.

The Pakistani government received a one-year interest payment from the IMF on the PIA debt. The Rs 280 billion loan to the banks would be repaid by the government after a year at an interest rate of 12%.
