Impacts of Climate Change: Pakistan and the UK to Increase Climate Change Collaboration

In order to confront the issues faced by climate change, Pakistan and Britain have decided to pool their respective expertise.

The British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz met in Murree and came to this understanding.

Key topics discussed at the meeting included healthcare, education, and climate change. The parties also discussed ways to boost Punjabi students’ enrolment in elite UK colleges for postsecondary education.

Maryam Nawaz outlined Punjab’s environmentally conscious efforts, which include lowering pollution levels and enhancing governance by utilising a KPI-based monitoring system for law enforcement and government.

Continued efforts towards Digital Punjab and the development of solar panel projects in the area were also discussed.

Maryam Nawaz stated that she would be happy to have British assistance in setting up IT universities in Punjab and welcomed British organisations to invest in the Nawaz Sharif IT City project in Lahore.

She stressed that the construction of the twin towers in Lahore is quickly coming to an end, signalling Punjab’s entry into a new digital era.
