The list of reserved seats for women under Section 104 of the Election Act was not submitted by the MWM, according to sources within the ECP, and the time for submission has already gone.

Moreover, it was disclosed that political parties may submit the reserved seat list up until the nomination paper filing date.

However, sources emphasised that after the deadline has passed, neither the submission nor the modification of the reserved seat list is permitted.
The Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) in Punjab and the centre will forge an alliance with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), as was stated yesterday.

In a news conference, PTI spokesman Raoof Hasan stated that the party’s founder had instructed the formation of an alliance with the MWM in Punjab and the central. He said, “A proposal to collaborate with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also been approved by the founder of the PTI.”

It is important to note that, due to their independent status, candidates supported by the PTI would not be eligible to run for the seats set aside for women and minorities.

In accordance with the legislation, the parties receive the reserved seats according to the lists they submit to the ECP before to the general elections.

The PTI-supported independents secured 93 seats in the National Assembly and 112 seats in the Punjab Assembly, respectively.

The independents supported by the PTI have also won 83 seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
