Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said conversations between the United States and Iran over uranium stocks might have resumed several days earlier, but regional tensions hindered the diplomatic process.

In an interview with Arab media, Ishaq Dar said Israeli attacks on Lebanon seriously damaged the discussion process, leading efforts to bring American and Iranian representatives to the negotiating table to nearly stall.

He said technical-level talks restarted following increased diplomatic efforts and are currently focused on implementing the recent memorandum of understanding. According to Dar, this represents the second phase of diplomatic contact between the United States and Iran.

Iran’s President to reach Pakistan today for high-level discussions

The deputy prime minister stated Iran would cut the level of uranium enrichment instead of sending uranium abroad. He noted that working groups are actively engaged on critical topics including the nuclear program, sanctions, and frozen assets, while problems connected to Lebanon are also part of the discussion agenda.

Ishaq Dar further claimed that Pakistan is playing the role of a facilitator throughout the process. He stated a 30-day timeline has been set to resolve some items, while a broader agreement is expected within a 60-day timeframe.

He stated that ships transiting through the Strait of Hormuz would be permitted tariff-free transit for 60 days, with vessels only needed to pay ordinary navigation or service fees.

Dar also added that Donald Trump has personally supervised the US-Iran conversations, while Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates are helping the mediation process. He stated the next phase of negotiations could be difficult, but a final agreement remains feasible, adding that there is no negative point
